15/9/2009 LEADING PERUVIAN ANTHROPOLOGIST SCREENS ALTIPLANO AT TOP WORLD EVENTS. Prof. Luis Millones, one of Peru's leading anthropologists, is taking Altiplano around the world. He will screen the film at top events in Nagoya and Sevilla. Prof. Millones called Altiplano "a work of art" and is highly appreciative of the representation of Andean culture in the film:

“The film is a sharp perception of death and what follows as it is felt in the heart of the Andean people… The use of masks and costumes is remarkable… The immobility of the characters, in three magnificent scenes, recalls the solemn hieratism of pre-European societies in which it is stated that the Andeans were created in stone. The landscape speaks to the viewer as if recalling an expression of Arguedas when he detected that the stones of Cusco have blood in their veins. The Andes are not the background of the film - rather the landscape stares back at the viewer evoking the sense of eternity through which the characters move. The greatest attribute of this work of art is that it unveils the landscape and allows it to perform in all its grandeur.”
